The name Clinique immediately brings us to the association with something proved by the doctors and good for your health. No surprise, that a company, producing hypo allergic make-up and the only hypo allergic fragrance in the world, has chosen this name. The line is worked out for people with heavy allergic reactions, that find it difficult or painful to apply any other skincare means. Clinique products are supposed to be 100% fragrance-free and allergy-tested.
Clinique started in 1968, when one of American magazines came out with an article "Can Great Skin Be Created?" In this article a practically unknown specialist called Dr. Norman Orentreich, spoke about his own techniques of skincare product producing. Estée Lauder put their eye on the rising star of cosmetology, and Dr. Orentreich was invited to become the company’s dermatologic consultant.
Clinique specialists have developed the 3-step skin-cleaning system (initially created by Dr. Erno Laszlo). The three steps are: cleaning the face with soap, rinsing it thoroughly and then reestablishing pH with skin toner. The program also takes into account the client's exact skin type, and the specialist working on the program were one of the first to state vital importance of everyday cleansing and removing makeup in case you want your skin to be healthy. Charles Revson, one of the founders of Revlon company, claimed, that many of the skin-care techniques and effective formulas were stolen from Revlon by Clinique spies – in any case, Clinique denies all these suspictions.
Beside allergy-tested and fragrance-free skincare means, Clinique is also famous for its hair care lines, general make-up products and, of course, its perfume. Aromatics Elixir by Clinique, created by Bernard Chant in 1971 and including the notes of rose, jasmine, ylang ylang and vetiver, is today the only perfume, available for the people with sensitive skin.
