"There are only three American names that are known in every single corner of the globe: Singer sewing machines, Coca Cola, and Elizabeth Arden." The phrase, popular in 1930s, underlines the high fame and recognition of Elizabeth Arden’s products worldwide. How could this Canadian woman reach such fame and glory?

Florence Nightingale Graham (for this is the real name of our heroin) was born in 1884 in Canada, and started creating make-up and skincare in 1909. This was also the year of Elizabeth Arden to replace Florence Nightingale Graham – the pseudonym was formed from the name of her partner, Elizabeth Hubbard, and the title of a poem "Enoch Arden" by Tennyson. The name of the owner became the brand mark of the company, that produced skincare and make-up.
It is important to mention, that at that times quality skincare was very rare, and women were not used to decorative make-up. Elizabeth Arden started from scratch, and after years of educating women in the salons, how to apply make-up properly, after thousands of advertisements (also in the cinemas during the films), Elizabeth Arden with her the culture of applying daily make-up, were a success.

Speaking about the salons, that used to promote the ideas of beauty and to advertise Elizabeth Arden’s make-up, we must admit, that the company had its salons in New York, Washington, Boston, Chicago, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Maine, Arizona, Phoenix, Southhampton, Surfside, Florida, Palm Beach, Philadelphia, Honolulu, Lima. Toronto, Montreal, Melbourne, Sydney, Hong Kong, Singapore, Johannesburg, London, Paris, Zurich, Vienna, Milan, Rome, Cannes, Madrid, Brussels, Copenhagen, The Hague, London, Ontario, Cape Town, Nassau, Tulsa, Quebec, Biarritz – a huuuge amount of names. As well as the salons, Elizabeth Arden managed spa resorts. Add to this, that most of the royal family members of Europe and US celebrities were using Elizabeth Arden’s products – and you’ll understand, what an immense success is.

In 1934 the first perfume of Elizabeth Arden’s, called Blue Grass, was launched. Today the line of perfumes includes such well-known and beloved perfumes, as "Fifth Avenue", "Green Tea", "Provocative Woman", "Mediteranian". Moreover, today the company produces different “celebrity perfumes”, such as, for example, "With Love... Hilary Duff", "M by Mariah Carey" or "Curious: In Control" by Britney Spears.
