Erno Laszlo was born ion July, 11th, 1897 in Hungary, but later on emigrated to America. Being a talented and well-educated dermatologists and also a gifted businessman, Erno Laszlo opened his own Erno Laszlo Institute/ Today all the products carrying the brand Erno Laszlo are not only perfect skin-care cosmetics and perfumes, but also have healing effect.
Laszlo graduated from the Royal Hungarian Elisabeth University of Medical Sciences in Budapest, where he studied skin pathology and skin disease. Then followed clinical studies in Berlin, where Max Joseph was his tutor. Fame came to the dermatologist, when he returned to Budapest and Belgian Princess Stéphanie tried some of Erno Laszlo’s products. She was amazed, and immediately after that a huge number of European women started to use his skin-care means and make up. Some also visited him personally for a piece of advice.
In 1939 Erno Laszlo moves to New York, where in November of the same year he opens Erno Laszlo Institute on 677 Fifth Avenue, Manhattan. The aim of the institute was to specialize “in beauty treatments and cosmetics”. A funny thing is, that Laszlo practically didn’t speak English when he started his business. Though he even hired a private tutor to teach him English, his speech was hard to understand for the majority of the Institute workers. Despite his problems with English, Laszlo got his US citizenship in 1945/
The Erno Laszlo Institute became so famous among the celebrities, that no one could get there without personal recommendations from a wealthy and powerful client. Among such clients were the Duchess of Windsor and the Duke of Windsor Gloria Vanderbilt, Doris Duke, Greta Garbo, Lilian Gish, and Truman Capote, as well as Audrey Hepburn, Yul Brynner, Hubert de Givenchy, and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
The products by Erno Laszlo, though mainly called female, are in the word unisex. They all have some healing substances in and are extremely useful for skin therapy.
