Guy Laroche is today the world-known company, that produces luxurious male and female clothes, accessories and perfumes. Guy Laroche is the name of a French designer, who was the founder of the company, named after him. In 1955 Guy Laroche moved to the USA to learn some new methods of production, and in 1956-1957 he opened haut couture atelier in 37 Franklin Roosevelt Avenue in Paris. His first collection consisted of the clothes of bright saturated colours, like pink, orange, coral and motton blue. The main elements of the firs collection were collars, that covered the whole neck, and purling on the face side of the models. In 1966 Guy Laroche launched his first aroma for women, named Fidji, and also created a new male clothes collection and opened his first boutique Guy Laroche Monsieur. Than followed such aromas as Drakkar (1972), J'ai Oise (1977), Drakkar Noir (1982), Clandestine (1986) и Horizon (1993). Guy Laroche died on February, 17, 1989 in Paris. Marcel Marongiu, a designer of French-Norway origin, took the place of the fashion house’s art director.
The principle of the fashion house now include the following statement s and notions:
- Harmony, that is, a right balance between the clothes’ being comfortable, yet elegant.
- Colour – actual, bright and saturated
- Quality – work on the details carefully, otherwise you will fail to do a bigger job
- Style – business classics is always in.
Speaking about Guy Laroche style, we should mention, that it includes pretentious and luxurious classics, that captures everybody’s attention. There are no more borders between evening and business fashion – these borders have vanished. Wearing an elegant coat by Guy Laroche or a stylish business suit, one will be always feeling confident – either at a business meeting or at a luxurious and glamorous party. Conservatism is always in!
