Loris Azzaro, the founder of Azzaro company, had a blend of cultures in his soul. He was born in Tunis, from Italian parents, but is known as a French designer. During his life Loris Azzaro has created a huge lot of clothes lines, but is today known mainly for his perfume lines.
The first line by Loris Azzaro was set up in 1962, in Paris. As the line was successful, the designer started to gain popularity, and this resulted in hi dressing all French “cream of the cream”, including such famous celebrities, as Sophia Loren, Raquel Welch, Marisa Berenson, Claudia Cardinale, Isabelle Adjani, Kate Winslet and Nicole Kidman. His beadings and accessories were as popular, as his dresses and shoes. Speaking about Azzaro collections, we must admit the designer’s extravagant habit to name the collections in the alphabetical order – though skipping Q, X or Z, for there are no proper names for a collection, starting from these letters.
1975 is the birth year of 'Couture', the first perfume by Loris Azzaro. Speaking about perfumes, he created, Loris Azzaro mentioned: "I let myself get carried by the atmosphere of the country of my childhood with its spiced odors, it's colors, it's flowers and it's perfumes. It is the country where I really become myself, the country where my preferred color is everywhere, azure of the sea and the sky.” Today’s head of the company, Vanessa Seward, strives to develop the fragrance lines of the company, and that’s why the name of Loris Azzaro is today first and foremost associated with perfumes.
