Chanel - New Eau Verte 2009 Eau de Toilette Concentrée
The celebrated Chanel perfumery house launched the new Eau Verte 2009 Eau de Toilette Concentrée

The original Cristalle Eau de Toilette was the first Chanel perfume launched after the death of Mademoiselle Chanel in 1971, created by a perfumer Henri Robert. It is fresh with a honeysuckle taste of bitterness, very exquisite and feminine, with glittering notes of shipr. In the beginning it is slightly ungracious in its green astringency, but later as if thankful for your patience it “melts” and embraces your skin with tender jasmine and rose, all flavored with wet heady aroma of oak moss.
In 1993 – almost 20 year later - Jacques Polge created his own Eau de Perfume version under the same title. It was less astringent and sweeter, with much more fruit and citrusy notes.
Now we are glad to meet an entirely new and fresh interpretation of Chanel by the well-known Jacques Polge.
The Chanel Cristalle Eau Verte Eau de Toilette Concentrée reveals the fragrance of magnolia, jasmine, nerol, and citrus plants, with the notes of lemon and bergamot adding the feeling of lightness. It looks like a minute change but the aroma has changed greatly.
So, instead of the expected green aroma Cristalle, a new version of Chanel perfume turned out to be warmer, with summer breeze in it. When summer comes, one longs for freshness and weightlessness, for water, lush grass, transparent white flowers of blossoming trees and teasing brightness of citruses – everything that is found in Cristalle Eau Verte.
It is wonderfully refreshing and at the same time surprises by its persistent smell.

Women and perfumes: what unites them

When Marilyn Monroe was asked, what she wears for the night, she answered: “Chanel number 5”. It is hardly possible to imagine a man giving such an answer: “No, I wear nothing, just a few drops of eau de cologne…” Probably, not eau de cologne, but a proper eau de toilette, but still – one can not compare the role, perfume plays in the life of a woman with that in the life of a man.
Women choose perfumes carefully and thoughtfully. A woman can change her scent preferences according to the place she is in and according to the time of the day, she takes her age and mood into consideration and makes experiments with perfumes, she discusses perfumes with friends and spends a huge part of her incomes on perfume, she can even give up a meal or a dress for her to buy a bottle of perfume.
Women have perfumes for both working days and holidays. A woman wears different scents for business meetings and romantic dates, for a walk around the city and for a visit to a restaurant. However, in the 17th century Baltsasar Grassian warned women: “Who smell strongly – smells badly”. Still, modern day women seem to have learned the lesson of how to apply perfume: with the tips of your fingers, on the back of the hand, behind the ears, a touch at the back of the head and on the temples. This is enough to create an airy wave of a touching, magical aroma. This is not by chance, that an extremely popular film, that was filmed twice (starring Vittorio Gassman and Al Pachino correspondingly) was named “Scent of a woman”. Certainly it couldn’t be the scent of a man – the scent of tobacco, leather and alcohol.
Whatever the rose smells…or How to name a perfume? Part I.
What name must a perfume have? What task does the name have and at what is it aimed? Why is the name so important?

Of course, the name has to be catchy, bright, remarkable and to bring some associations. It is not easy to find a word, that would not only satisfy all these criteria, but would also reflect the image, the perfumer wants to create, and would carry a part of the perfume magic.
The easiest variant is to use the name of the perfumer or producer, or any of the trade mark owners, like Cardin, Armani, Gucci, Givenchy, Azzarro. Sometimes only the initials will go: K.L. by Karl Lagerfeld, Y by Yves Saint-Lauren. In this case the addition of a number to the perfume’s name will carry an element of mystery: Chanel № 19, Azzaro 9. For example, Kenzo company includes the name of the company in the majority of perfume names: Kenzo pour homme, EauparKenzo and so on. Sometimes the company, that produces fragrances, names them in honour of the founder or owner of the company: see Nina by Nina Ricci.
The most brilliant example of a surname’s use in the brand of Dior – this name is short, but catchy, and it sounds pleasantly. What is more, it is really useful for various modifications, like Diorema, Diorella, Diorissimo. Salvador Dali company seems to be also inspired by this idea – it explains the creation of Dalissime and Dalimix fragrances.
The magic of numbers is also of great importance. Chanel № 5 still remains one of the most popular perfumes in the world – probably because of the lucky number 5. They say, m-lle Chanel has organized the whole life of hers around this number, which in numerology means developed intuition and an ability to take risks.
Chanel #5: a must-try for any Chanel chooser
What new can be said about his scent? Chanel #5 is acknowledged classics, a scent, that is out of time. Launched in 1921 (!) it is still a best seller. Chanel #5, created by Earnest Beaux, was the first perfume , in which composition much aldehydes were used. These substances give Chanel #5 its unique, glittering character. It was the first “abstract” scent is history, for Earnest Beaux stated, he wanted to create an artificial arome, as artificial, as clothes or something else created by a human. He didn’t want his creation to have a scent of rose or lily-of-the-valley, he wanted it to be a composition. According to the legend Coco Chanel asked Earnest Beaux to create a “perfume for women that will smell Woman”. The perfumer gave Coco 10 variants, out of which she picked up the fifth – that is the origin of the scent’s name.

This classical and unforgettable scent starts with the top notes of Grass neroly, ylang-ylang and aldehydes, while the heart notes include tender rose and French jasmine. The basic notes are formed up by amber, sandalwood and vetiver. No matter, which for of the scent you choose to apply – eau de parfum or eau de toilette, deodorant or body lotion, body crème or shower gel - Chanel #5 will give you the impression of luxury and elegance.
Five was the lucky number of Coco Chanel, and Chanel #5 – the favourite scent of Marilyn Monroe. The scent for a Woman from the capital letter – this is Chanel #5, that is always fashionable.
