Perfume or toilet water: do you enjoy the freedom of choice?
Any scent (either perfume or toilet water) is a combination of spirit, water and a special concentrate of aroma substances. Sometimes a colouring agent can also be added, but it never influences the fragrance itself and has its impact only on the colour of your perfume.
Which type of scent is preferable for those, who like to use and change scents frequently, but at the same time is afraid to overdo with the fragrance? The best way out will be toilet water, or, as the French say and write on the boxes of their refined perfumes, Eau de Toilette. Toilet water is a composition of aroma substances, solute in the spirit, and the concentration of these substances does not exceed 8-10 per cent. Because of this proportion toilet water is considered to be the most airy and the lightest type of perfume, that is ideal for using in the daytime, during a hectic-temped business day or in the hot days of summer. Although the scent trail of a toilet water is very light, it contributes to the image of a ‘carrier’ a lot.
Perfume (look for “Parfum” inscription on the box of your French scent) is the most prestige and expensive variant of scent. Perfume consists of 90%-strong spirit, essences (in the concentration not lower than 15 per cent) and a special fragrance fixing agent. Toilet water provides subdued composition notes and makes the upper notes stronger, while in perfume the basic composition notes prevail. This is the reason for rich and lasting fragrance, that makes perfume an indispensable means of an evening attire. Perfume makes one recognizable and inimitable.
So, what to choose – that is the question. When making this choice (toilet water or perfume), we reflect our character and set a mood for the whole day. Light and bright toilet water is mend for the daytime, when the scent should not be strong, and perfume is designed for the night, when a deep aroma creates a unique image of yours. An ideal decision is to choose a pair (toilet water and perfume), created by one designer.
